A Christmas Countdown Project is a collection of daily actions, between December 1st and December 25, as a way to celebrate that the holiday season is here and that Christmas day is getting closer each day. It's like open a window or a bag every day, but instead of opening a "real" window, what we do is open a figurative one, doing something special for that day. The main idea of it is that instead of receiving something, each day we're doing or giving something.
Here's a list of themed Christmas Countdown Projects you can do during December:
- ONE DECORATION A DAY. This is a fun project to do with kids. Every day of December, you'll create a different decoration, and you'll hand it up at the tree. When Christmas arrives you'll have the whole tree decorated with handmade ornaments. Isn't that something to be proud about when family comes visit?
- PHOTO A DAY. When Christmas arrives, you'll have 25 photos that will document the days before it: maybe photos of your garden that day that snowed so much that you couldn't go to work, or a pic of the cookies you baked for a Christmas party.
- 25 SMILES. Surprise a different person every day. It doesn't have to be a big surprise: send a handmade letter to a friend without them knowing, call a friend you haven't talked to in ages, or visit an old person who feels alone. When Christmas Day arrives, you'll have made 25 persons happy.
If you don't want to do a themed countdown, it's also really fun to make a list with 25 different things, and do one of them every day, like this one:
